So MAT was on late friday night (drunk off his ass btw), talking about a dedicated server...

told him i would look into it.. but tbh i dont the have time.. right now..

if you guys are really interested in one, plenty of providers out there to consider..
just depends on how much you are willing to spend.. .

if you guys do decided on one, i can throw in some $$..

sorry MAT,, dont really see a need for another server when one is barely populated..

I know I keep thinking the same thing.. It's like $20/month at a minimum though.. Kind of pricey..

Loki, haven't been on in a while, so that's why no response. I'm willing to chip in on a server. Did some research on providers last month even. Anyone have a provider in mind? I haven't rented one since the old ET days.

i would like to get a dedicated box going..(put ETQW and Dirty Bomb on it) but that would require a commitment from all.. pinching in each month..

well first we need someone with experience with a stand alone..
standard box aint worth it imo.. they are using shit hardware and minimal network speeds, which is understandable for a old and unpopular game..

I manage servers all the time, but not gaming servers - mostly VMs and lots of Windows/Linux stuff.

In any event, I'd be willing to chip in and/or help manage some of this if need be..

What's the upside to us having our own server?

you wont find any ranked servers. and tbh there is no reason to have one.. the global stats page is long gone..

For me, our own server would mean we an always have a place to call home when PV is full.

I would be willing to pay 1/2 or 1/3 the price if 1 or 2 others want to make this happen. My only stipulation is no contract. Month to month. Because I fear it won't be a full year before this game is completely done for.. and I say that with a tear because I don't play ANY other games PERIOD... just this one.. until I find something better..
